3-acre Parcel on Long Island

The Bahamas' Long Island may be one of the country's most tranquil and beautiful isles, but it's also steeped in fascinating history, and overflowing with stunning geographic anomalies. Originally inhabited by Lucayan Indians — who it's believed dwelled partly in the ancient cavern system called Hamilton's Cave — the island was first visited by Christopher Columbus in 1492, when he named it Fernandina. Seafarers later gave the island its more descriptive name — it is, after all, some 80 miles long, but no broader than four miles at its widest point.

Despite its narrowness, Long Island is a place of sharp contrasts (thanks to being literally split down the middle by the Tropic of Cancer), with dramatic cliffs and crashing Atlantic waves on its eastern shore, and peaceful sandy beaches on its western coast, which slopes gently into the Bahama Bank.

Now you can own a gorgeous three acre parcel on this Bahamian jewel, with miles and miles of sandy beaches and clear crystal waters within constant easy reach. A food store and shopping are in easy walking distance, as are a small creek and access to bone fishing, with access to deep sea fishing also nearby. And just a short drive away is one of the island's most popular and incredible features, Dean's Blue Hole. The second deepest blue hole in the world, this mind-bogglingly bottomless sink hole is more than 660 feet (200 meters) deep, and teeming with gorgeous marine wildlife, making it a veritable natural aquarium. Closer to the parcel, you can explore an old shipwreck off Doctor's Creek.

The property is located on the island's main road, the Queen's Highway. Access is easy thanks to Long Island's two airports, Stella Maris Airport in the north and Deadman's Cay Airport in the south, with daily scheduled service from nearby Nassau.
