At least once in your life, you have to experience the exclusive use of a tropical Dream Island.

Fafarua Lodge is a private “motu”; when you rent it, it is reserved exclusively for you. It is an isolated place where you can enjoy unspoilt natural beauty in private.

THE TIKEHAU ATOLL

In the middle of South Pacific, along with Tahiti and Bora Bora, the Tuamotu Archipelago is composed of a myriad of "atolls": rings of coral reef dotted with green islets, called “motu”, enclosing gorgeous inviting blue lagoons; a swimmer’s paradise with a treasure trove of sealife to explore.

When you arrive in Tikehau atoll, you will feel the same sensation experienced by all newcomers: "The Polynesian paradise really does exist, and I have just arrived." The infinite sky, the peace of the lagoon, the white beaches bathed in sunlight and shaded by coconut palms: a postcard paradise appears before your eyes.

Beneath the surface of the lagoon, a colourful underwater world, where bright fish swim amongst 350 species of vivid coral, is there to explore. The people in the Tuamotu are typically reserved but cheerful and welcoming. Whether by organizing a boat ride on the lagoon, a picnic on a remote motu, or a day trip to the sights, the staff of locals is on hand to show you around.

The infinite palette of blues of the lagoon, the beauty of the coconut plantations or the small number of inhabitants, all contribute to the serenity and peace that will define your stay and ensure that the hardest part of your trip will be saying goodbye.

THE PRIVATE ISLAND

The "motu" is accessible only by boat; a 30 minute ride from the village. It is an over 6 hectare area (14 acres), planted with a vast coconut grove with places of untouched native vegetation. It is bounded by the sea on all four sides, with sandy beaches on the lagoon side and a large wild reef on the outer side.

Although far from any civilization, the house will offer you the comfort of a villa: nice furniture, comfortable bedding, fully equipped kitchen, electricity and running water (hot and cold), fans, mobile telephone network and the internet (on a « tropical speed »….).

The house is built in the typical style of the Tuamotu. It has three bedrooms, one upstairs with a double bed and two with a double bed and a single one. The rooms are simple and colorful, airy and well-ventilated through natural ventilation, equipped with mosquito nets, fans and cupboards.

The lounge is open and spacious, including a U-shaped seat, that can provide six extra sleeping places. The dining area will set for ten persons. The kitchen is open and fully-equipped. This is a comfortable family home: very open and friendly.

As usual in Polynesian Islands, near the main house are a "Fare potee" (covered outdoor seating and dining area), and a “Fare pape” (outhouse) with bathroom, toilet and laundry. Away from the beach and the house, in the interior of the "motu", there is a small residential home for the staff which ensures a constant presence.

As the island is rented “all inclusive” (our rates depend on how many days and how many people stay on the motu, please don’t hesitate to ask for a quotation), transfers to and from the airport are included.

Full catering is provided by the staff of the motu. Meal times, and to the extent possible, the menus, are organized by the hostess according to the guests’ wishes. We will take pride in preparing as well as the French cuisine, the typical dishes of the archipelago and of Polynesia. Throughout the day, tea, coffee, drinking water and homemade lemonade are available to guests. Other drinks, juices, sodas, beers, wines and spirits are available and will be charged at the displayed prices. Our wine cave is stocked well with white and red French wines, as well as champagne. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you have preferred selection of wine, beer or any alcohol. We we will do our best to get it for you.

ACTIVITIES

There are many ways to explore the beautiful Tuamotu, whether swimming at your exclusive private beach, taking long walks on the reef to explore the wonders of coral reefs stretching as far as the eye can see, or snorkeling in the "hoa" (or channels); nature’s real-life aquariums. On the island you can enjoy the coolness of the shade from the coconut palms, the typical vegetation of the Tuamotu as it is used by the locals for the coconut milk and to make copra (coconut oil).

Located 20 kilometers from the village, the Motu offers serene isolation in a picture-postcard landscape. Due to the round shape of the atoll, the motu is equidistant from the village, the channel or the beaches of the long "motu" . Only a few small boats pass each other from time-to-time, going to a fishing spot or a family coconut grove, and do not break the tranquility of the place.

In addition of the many activities you can have on and around the motu, exploring the environment, snorkeling, kayaking, stand up paddling, the boat driver will take you to many sights of interest all around the lagoon for « à la carte » and personalized trips.

For a very unique and personal honeymoon, as well as for a romantic getaway with the one you chose to share this special moment, just the two of you on an isolated private island or for a group vacation, sharing with your family or chosen friends the experience of authentic Tuamotu in total privacy, TIKEHAU FAFARUA LODGE Private Island will provide you the ultimate experience of being immersed and secluded in one of the nicest and untouched landscapes of the world. Certainly one of the best ways to discover the unforgettable charms of the Tuamotu Archipelago.

THE OWNER SPEAKING

The Fafarua “motu” has belonged to my family for several generations, but was never inhabited before I started to make this wild and isolated paradise our favorite vacation place. For more than 15 years now we've worked to clean it up and build our house, year after year, always in an environment friendly way.

Being a retired Flight Attendant, I have traveled to many countries as well as in the whole Polynesia. I was born in an old Tahitian family, and therefore have a lot to share about French Polynesia and our Tikehau atoll with people visiting us.

I hope and intend to give to our guests the opportunity to live something very different from the usual touristic trips. We greet only one couple or one limited group at a time, which allows complete privacy and gives us the possibility to offer a very personalized service. We invite our guests to let us know, as soon as they have booked, if there is something special that we can prepare or organize to make their stay as convenient as possible. My wish is to make our guests feel day after day, not only the incomparable beauty of the place, or the stress free comfort of our house and our service, but also the authentic contact with our environment and our Polynesian way of life.
