The rental comes with full use of the entire island, a cozy oceanfront 890 sq ft 2 bedroom cabin and a 24x9 ft floating dock able to accommodate up to 2 boats. The island is located only 2.5 miles/4 kilometers from Gold River boat launch. Please note that you must be a hands on type of person to operate the utilities on this property!
Victor Island is a self-catered, off-the-grid, unique fishing and relaxation dream come true. Equipped with all the essentials, you only need to supply your own food, refreshments and toiletries. We will provide linens, blankets, pillows, paper towels, napkins, septic safe toilet paper, garbage bags, dishes and cutlery, gas for the generator and propane for the barbecue, stove and hot water tank.
The cabin could potentially sleep 9 or more people, but that would be pretty cramped and would require people sleeping on pull out couches, which are definitely not the most comfortable to sleep on (unless you use them for kids, those buggers seem to be able to get a good night sleep on anything :) We would suggest no more than 6 adults if you want them all to have comfortable sleeping arrangements. 2 people could sleep in the master bedroom (equipped with 2 single beds that we normally push together to create a king size), 2 in the guest bedroom bunk bed and 2 in the living room bunk bed. There is also a travel crib/play pen in the master bedroom.
The kitchen is equipped with a 4 burner propane stove/oven, dual sink, full size refrigerator and a toaster. There is a full size propane barbecue on one of the decks. We have all the cutlery, cutting boards, pots and pans etc. that you would need to prepare your meals. The bathroom has a stand up shower, sink and flush toilet on a septic system. Please do not put anything in the toilet other than pee, poo and supplied septic safe toilet paper. Putting hygiene products, cotton swabs, napkins, q-tips, paper towels, garbage etc. into the toilet will most definitely clog the septic system and result in sewer backup and forfeiture of the damage deposit.
The water comes from a rain collection system and is filtered and treated with UV light, making it safe to drink right from the tap. There is a propane powered hot water tank that has the instructions on lighting it up attached to it. Electricity for the fridge and the lights is provided by an ultra-quiet Honda gasoline generator behind the utility shed, which would need to be periodically refilled and restarted depending on your electricity demand. We will provide you with all the gas and propane you might need for your 6 night stay, it is included in the island rental.
Please note that there is a water meter on the water supply line and you are limited to 1000 gallons/4000 liters for the duration of your stay. It is critical to conserve water, since once the tank runs out, there will be no way for you to get more fresh water, resulting in a rather uncomfortable rest of your stay. Please monitor the water meter daily and make necessary adjustments to your water consumption if you notice you are using too much.
The property is rented in 6 night blocks, check in is on Sunday at or after 3pm, checkout is on the following Saturday at 11am. We only rent it out in the summer months, June 14 – August 8. Price is CAD 575 per night, all in. We hope that you are up for spending a week enjoying your very own private island paradise!
