Seabird Key is a ten acre island featuring a large cottage home with gracious porches and multi level decks. Swiss Family Robinson meets Ernest Hemingway, charmed by an old Florida style at its finest. The tropical island decor is enhanced with nautical antiques. The home comfortably sleeps eight: two bedrooms on the main level (one queen and one full) each with private baths, and a shared "Adam and Eve" unique, yet private outdoor shower. The upstairs open loft sleeps four, and a wooden catwalk connecting the two ends of the loft complements the tree house environment.
Enjoy a private sandy beach with towering coconut palms, and stroll through natural hammocks and exotic tropical gardens. Surrender yourself to the unspoiled nature of the Island; a sanctuary for nesting pelicans, herons, ibises, cormorants, ospreys, and other avian species, Seabird's only other residents. The owners of Seabird Key are dedicated to complete sustainability with little or no impact to the surrounding environment, while offering beautiful accommodations and most mainland "creature comforts." The home is solar powered, and naturally cooled. The water is supplied by a cistern for rainwater collection. A generator waits on stand-by for emergency use. Green practices at Seabird include recycling and eco-efficient technology whenever possible.
Boating in the Keys has something to offer everyone! Explore the deep blue ocean waters and see dolphins swimming in the wild, or witness living coral reefs in tranquil surrounding waters. Take a late afternoon sunset cruise. Seabird's 19' Boston Whaler is provided for your exclusive use (at no additional fee) for recreation around the island and nearby reefs, as well as transportation to and from the mainland. The boat is also equipped with an assortment of masks, fins, snorkels, and life vests. Seabird is only 5 minutes by boat from the mainland base in Marathon.
